About
Dr Tan Ying Chien has been practicing medicine for over 20 years, of which over a decade was spent specialising in the field of plastic surgery. With his meticulous nature, friendly demeanour, and appreciation for all things aesthetically pleasing, Dr Tan has made a name for himself in the field.
Dr Tan’s experience spans across Singapore, Taiwan and Japan as he perfected the art and science of plastic surgery in various renowned institutions.
He refined his skills in aesthetic surgery as well as cleft and jaw surgery while in Taiwan (Chang Gung Memorial Hospital) on an MOH Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) scholarship. He then honed his interest in ear reconstruction surgery in Japan, under the tutelage of the illustrious Dr Satoru Nagata at the Nagata Microtia and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery Hospital.
When he returned to Singapore, Dr Tan worked at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) under the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery; and soon after built up his own practice in all aspects of aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery.

He remains a Visiting Consultant to KKH and Singapore General Hospital (SGH) up to this day, providing pro bono ear reconstructive surgeries. Notably, he is one of only two surgeons locally who provide specialised ear reconstruction care.
Apart from his clinical work, Dr Tan is committed to giving back to society. To that end, he is a part of Operation Smile, a charity that organises medical mission trips to less developed countries in order to treat children suffering from cleft lip and palate deformities.
Outside of work, Dr Tan enjoys assembling plastic models, leading him to his impressive collection of over 300 hand-assembled model (Diecast) cars, Japanese (Gundam) robots and Star Wars models!
